Zara @ Moeser Auditorium - UNC Chapel Hill

Performance of the one person show followed by a talk-back with the creative team and special guests.

Special Guests:

  • Todd Ramón Ochoa is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at UNC Chapel Hill. His research and writing is about African-inspired Societies and Religions in Latin America and the Caribbean, Cuba, Contemporary Theory and Philosophy.

  • Sonny Kelly is a scholar, performer, story teller, motivator, speaker, and comedian. Currently, Sonny is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill. His research is focused on seeking innovative and effective approaches to addressing the Achievement Gap between thriving and marginalized students and the School-to-Prison Pipeline. Sonny’s original one-man show, The Talk, grapples with the talks that parents of color must have with their children about surviving and thriving in a racialized America.

  • Saba Taj is a visual artist based in Durham NC. Heavily inspired by Islamic stories and speculative fiction, Saba uses interdisciplinary practices to illustrate the in-betweenness of identity, as embodied by hybridized figures. Taj remixes cultural references from her South Asian, Southern American, Muslim, and queer identities, and explores themes of diaspora, inherited trauma and apocalypse.
